Come late September 2012, the vibrant Club Street, known for it’s impeccable array of cafes and restaurants, will be home to the brand new multi-label fashion boutique, MYthology.
“Every garment has a story to tell, which can only be told once it is worn. Fashion can be a transformation, a spiritual experience.”
The philosophy behind MYthology
While there may be two months away from the opening, I for one cannot contain my excitment for the debut of this boutique, which was born with the aim of helping the urban woman express her style and lifestyle through her wardrobe.
Apart from hearing that the store will be luxuriously-decorated, MYthology will be curating and bringing forth collections of women’s apparel and accessories that will undoubtedly impress, as well as a highly-exciting fresh mix of designers, whose brands and talent are pioneered as one of the most happening ones to look out for.
.
One brand to look out for is none other than TOTON. The edgy, emerging label by Toton Januar from Indonesia, which was just here in Singapore’s Blueprint 2012 Tradeshow in May 2012, has left many breathless and thoroughly intrigued with it’s intrinsic craftsmanship and also, innovation in design in his impeccable method of weaving the traditional Javanese embroidery (an artisanship which originated in Indonesia) into sleek, sculptured modern silhouettes and cuts that indeed, remind me of Alexander McQueen.
With pops of rhinestones, delightful details in craftsmanship on a discerning palette of fabrics, the creations from TOTON are exquisite, exotic and of course, breathtaking, and are also by far, one of the most impactful labels I have seen.
With my undying love for all things Asian and edgy, I simply cannot contain my excitment as I countdown to the day when the boutique opens it’s doors this September, especially since TOTON will in fact be retailing for the first time in Singapore, exclusively to MYthology!
.
And of course, speaking of Asian designers, nobody can deny that Singapore is indeed becoming quite the homeground to many talented designers these days, a surge of fashion talents with impressive designs springing across the board. As I relish in the fact that MYthology is indeed honed to be the platform for these emerging labels, one of the biggest highlight in the array of designer labels in the boutique is undoubtedly Singapore’s very own label, Dresstronomy.
The label which was founded by designers Pat and Tilda first started online, and has since moved from the websphere to the retail floors. Currently going by appointment-only sessions at their studio at Niven Road, it will be Dresstronomy’s first retail debut at MYthology, whereby they will be pushing forth their youthful and innovative takes in design, from the notion of origami (the Japanese art of folding paper) all the way to the merging of Japanese umbrellas in their latest Cruise 2013 collection which would be available in MYthology. Join in the collection’s explosion of colors, traditions and of course, a prominent usage of luxurious fabrics of silk shantungs and cotton-polyester blends.
So there you go, with these two prominent labels to anticipate for, as well as one of India’s leading fashion designer label, the bohemian-inspired Nikasha coming onboard, I have no doubt in saying that MYthology will be opening in a big bang!
I’m already keeping my fingers crossed for the brands while I anticipate for the opening of MYthology! In the meantime, do also visit their website!
